NEW YORK, NY—July 15, 2024—United Hospital Fund has elected three new members to its Board of Directors: Anna Fagin, a partner at Town Hall Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in medically underserved communities; Carlos Pardo Martin, PhD, a partner at McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm; and William B. Weeks, MD, PhD, MBA, director of AI for Health Research at Microsoft.
In her role at Town Hall Ventures, Ms. Fagin helps drive the firm’s sourcing and diligence efforts and supports portfolio companies post investment. She has led Town Hall’s efforts in women’s and family health, mental health, and value-based care investments. Ms. Fagin was previously a vice president at 3L Capital, where she was responsible for investing in high-growth, technology-enabled consumer and health care businesses. She was also an investor at Hellman & Friedman working to evaluate private equity buyout opportunities. A graduate of Dartmouth College, she started her career at Bain & Company.
At McKinsey & Company, Dr. Pardo Martin serves both national and regional payers, Medicaid-managed care organizations, health care providers, and safety-net hospital systems in areas of corporate strategy, growth, organizational transformation, talent, and operations. He is primarily focused on corporate strategy and strategic transformations of payer health plans. A graduate of Universidad Autonoma De Madrid, he received a PhD in medical engineering from Harvard University. Prior to his role at McKinsey, he held a postdoctoral position at MIT, where he developed novel tools for medical research. While completing his PhD, he developed new technologies for drug discovery and surgical devices.
In addition to his role leading Microsoft’s AI for Health efforts, Dr. Weeks also serves as medical director for Bing, Microsoft’s search engine. He conducts research in concert with nonprofit organizations and academic centers designed to improve health and health outcomes. Dr. Weeks previously served as a principal researcher for Microsoft Health, a professor at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and a senior scientist at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. He was also a psychiatrist and health services researcher at the Department of Veterans Affairs for 16 years. Dr. Weeks has published two books and more than 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts examining economic and business aspects of health care services utilization and delivery, physicians’ return on educational investment, health care delivery science, social determinants of health, population health, and health care value. He received a BS degree from Whitman College, an MD from University of Texas Medical Branch, an MBA from Columbia University, and a PhD from Aix-Marseille University.
