MyNYM is New York Methodist Hospital's Web-based patient portal, which provides patients with vital information about their medical history and their hospital stay, including lab results, discharge summaries, and prescribed medications. To increase the number of patients who register for the portal, the hospital will train volunteers to visit patients in two areas—an orthopedic unit and a mother/baby unit—to educate them about the benefits of the portal and provide assistance in registering patients or their family members. Volunteers will make follow-up calls to patients who registered for, but are not using, the portal to determine any problems they may be experiencing.
