To build provider capacity and enhance the quality of care within health systems across the greater New York region through the continuing partnership between the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) and United Hospital Fund (UHF). Activities include:
- Providing quality improvement training for health care professionals through the continuation and enhancement of the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program (CQFP). This 15-month training for hospital physicians, nurses, and physician assistants, and clinicians in hospital-affiliated outpatient settings—supports clinicians in obtaining the skills necessary to champion quality improvement efforts in their facilities.
- Providing GNYHA members with an opportunity for continued participation in the High Reliability Organization (HRO) Leadership Forum, building upon high reliability principles and strategies in health care that were developed in Year One through GNYHA/UHF’s joint quality improvement activities. In Year Two, hospital teams will work on specific HRO-oriented improvement initiatives within their facilities, and collaborate with others through Forum trainings that include webinars, in-person learning sessions, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Assessing the feasibility of developing a Clinical Quality for Nursing Homes (CQNH) program to build internal capacity for continuous quality improvement and nursing home resident safety. The program would seek to leverage curriculum concepts and lessons learned from CQFP.
