UHF’s 2016 conference on Medicaid in New York focused on payment reform efforts, both planned and under way. Jason Helgerson, New York State Medicaid Director, delivered an opening keynote on implementing a new value-based payment model, along with its effect on Medicaid members, health plans, and health care providers. One panel discussed emerging efforts in Medicaid member engagement and considerations for consumer empowerment, and a second looked at early activities by plans and providers to develop value-based payment arrangements. A closing keynote by Christopher F. Koller, president of the Milbank Memorial Fund and former health insurance commissioner for Rhode Island, considered the future of value-based payment for New York.
The event was held on July 14, 2016, at the New York Academy of Medicine.
