Each summer, UHF’s Medicaid Institute hosts a major conference that brings together health care policymakers, providers, insurers, community organizations, and policy experts to discuss timely issues of import to New York’s Medicaid Program. In recent years, the opening keynote has been provided by the New York State Medicaid Director.

2022: Investing in Equity and Collaboration

Keynote: Amir Bassiri, MSW, Medicaid Director, Office of Health Insurance Programs, New York State Department of Health. Other sessions included panels on regional health planning and connecting to Medicaid before release from the criminal legal system, as well as a fireside chat on leveraging community networks to address social needs.

2021: Centering Communities Post-Covid

Keynote: Brett Friedman, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Special Medicaid Counsel in the Office of Health Insurance Programs, New York State Department of Health. Other sessions included panels on homelessness and community needs, and a fireside chat on the future of Medicaid, with Anne Marie Costello, Deputy Center Director for the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
