United Hospital Fund awards approximately $1 million annually in grants to (1) develop, implement, and evaluate innovative health care models and tools with the potential for adoption by other providers, (2) conduct policy analysis of significant health system issues that will shape the future of health care, and (3) design and develop strategies to expand and broaden the reach of improvements in health care quality and practice. United Hospital Fund’s grant making aims to improve health care for New Yorkers—specifically, in New York City—with a focus on vulnerable populations. Only not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible for United Hospital Fund grants. Grant awards are not capped but will typically range from $50,000 to $125,000 for up to a two-year period.
