Medicare Advantage is popular among New York’s Medicare beneficiaries and represents an important line of business for health insurers in the state. This issue brief, a supplement to The Big Picture V, examines Medicare Advantage enrollment and financial results from 2010 to 2012, the initial phase of Affordable Care Act implementation.

This supplement was jointly released with a report from the Medicare Rights Center, New York’s Medicare Marketplace—Update Examining New York’s Medicare Advantage Plan Landscape after the Affordable Care Act, which analyzes New York’s Medicare Advantage plan landscape from 2011 through 2014, examining changes in plan enrollment, benefit offerings, and premiums and cost sharing before and after the implementation of Affordable Care Act cost-saving measures.
