Reflections on a Decade of Quality Improvement

Videos celebrate 10 years of CQFP

Release Date: 11.15.2018

UHF and Greater New York Hospital Association are proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program (CQFP), a unique opportunity for clinicians to gain valuable quality improvement expertise. Supported by a grant from the Charina Endowment Fund, the 15-month fellowship program includes both didactic and experiential learning, as well as the requirement to lead a quality improvement capstone project with the guidance of an expert mentor from the program.

Fellows participate in two 2-day retreats early in the program, exploring a wide range of quality and patient safety topics, as well as a series of monthly meetings and webinars throughout the year. The 29 physicians and nurses who compose the 10th class began their CQFP journey in January 2018 and will complete the program in April 2019. The fellows come from a wide range of clinical backgrounds and care settings, enhancing the educational experience for all. Over the past 10 years, more than 200 physicians and nurses have participated in this program, and many have gone on to become quality leaders in their organizations.

In recognition of this 10-year milestone, we asked some of the program leaders, faculty, and former fellows to share their perspectives on what the CQFP program has meant to them and their organizations. Please click on the links below to hear what they have to say about the fellowship program, the importance of the Capstone Project, and the value of mentorship.
