Aging in New York Fund/New York City Department for the Aging
As a component of its plans to provide seniors with healthier and more appropriate meals, the Department for the Aging will focus on the needs of seniors with diabetes. Building on its work partnering with the Fund in the Together on Diabetes program, the Department for the Aging has developed a nutritionally balanced, diabetes-friendly menu for seniors. With this grant funding, the Department for the Aging will evaluate a pilot test of the new menu by the ARC XVI Senior Center and the Walburg Multi-Service Organization to help determine whether to expand and replicate the program for the 41,000 congregate and home-delivered meals served citywide each day to seniors in need.
